Problems

These lumps are gel like but have no “body” to them, you can strain through a fine mesh and they disintegrate. I did try drinking them and they tasted okay! Could be a cunning way to put people off drinking my cider!

Having posted this problem on the Cider Workshop forum it looks like this is Pectin Gel. I could have avoided this by the addition of Pectinase after pressing. I will have to filter before bottling now, this will add considerable time to the process. Needless to say, I shall be adding Pectinase in future! I had an aversion to adding anything to the apple juice but now use Sulphite and Pectinase, it really does save a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth!
